Another Hiatus Update

So I've finally gone to the physio, and there's good news and bad news!

Bad news: my back hasn't gotten any better, and probably won't for a while.

Good news: it doesn't seem to be anything serious. It seems I either had, or was about to get, a slipped disk, probably from a combination of bad posture, quarantine, and sitting and drawing comics for 5 hours a day. Unfortunately the cure for this is the exact opposite of sitting down hunched over and drawing comics for 5 hours a day, so I still don't know when I'll be able to get back into things, but I do at least have a plan for recovery now. Hopefully things will eventually get back to normal (although probably not twice-a-week-update-schedule normal for a while).

An Update

Hey all, it's been a while. Unfortunately, despite a month of thinking "oh surely this is what's wrong with my back. THIS time it's gonna get better", my back pain has only gotten worse, to the point of making everything difficult, not just drawing. I've finally gotten an appointment with a physio, and by then I should also be fully vaxxed up, but it's still several weeks away, so until then I still have no idea what's wrong and thus no idea when PMDA will be back to updating. Sorry!

Hiatus Announcement :(

I'm sorry to announce that I'm going to put PMDA on hiatus for a while. How long? I have no idea. I still have a buffer which should run for a week and a half, so it may only be a week or two, but really it'll last for as long as it takes to solve my back pain issue.

As you may have noticed, I haven't responded to comments for weeks, or talked to anyone, or left comments on anything. This is because I physically haven't been able to draw for a while now because of recurring back pains that seem to only appear when drawing. It's not just an issue of being able to only draw for about an hour before I'm in constant pain for the entire day, it's also an issue of the pain making me averse to even the idea of drawing: every time I think about the comic I only think about the pain instead, which is killing my motivation.

I've been playing wackamole with the source of the problem for ages now. Every time I find a source and massage it out, I find some new problem in a different area. It seems as if I've managed to injure my rib cage, my upper back, my lower back, my shoulders and my hip all at the same time, and I have no idea how or why. If I can't figure this out I may have to just go to a doctor, which I really don't want to have to do but it's looking increasingly hopeless.

Small Delay on Next Episode

Sorry everyone, but it seems I'm gonna have to delay episode 6's start by one extra week. I haven't been able to draw recently because every time I've picked up a pen my entire back would seize up after maybe 30 mins, and the pain was just too much. I thought it was a back problem, but it turns out it's an intercostal rib muscle strain and I don't want to do anything in case it gets worse and breathing gets difficult or something. I have a buffer, but I'd prefer to just take an extended break now rather than risk having to stop mid-way into the episode.

Also sorry I'm terrible about replying to comments but I promise I am reading them!!

New year, new... method for uploading the backlog?

(if you saw a notificcation of this twice, oops I pressed the wrong button)

Well it's not the new year yet, but I thought now might be a good time to update you on whats going on!

Firstly, work on re-lettering the next episode has been much slower than expected. Not just becasue of the ~holiday atmosphere~ but becasue I finally upgraded CSP to EX, and it's sort of sped things up... except for the crashes when I try to copy in too much text at once. No idea why, some pages just do not want text added to them. All the old pages have to be manually edited becasue they were made in an old version of photoshop I lost ages ago in a crash (the comic was backed up thankfully) in a horrible, unreadable handwriting font that I can't show because I have no idea how to add images to this post oh god help me i am not good with computer

Secondly, I made a new profile pic for PMDA! This is about the limit of my animating skills so it's a little choppy but I think it looks good overall. Much better than the old cropped front cover at least!

And finally, the main issue: I've recently realised that spamming one page a day for months might not be the best way of uploading the comic. Instead, I was thinking of posting 6-7 pages all at once on like... a friday or something, OR 3-ish pages twice a week. It'll get done at the same speed, just how you see the pages will change. Let me know if you prefer one over the other or I'll just assume you love the spam ;)

Happy new year! (when it happens for real)

It Begins (the comic I mean)

I've been sitting on almost 200 pages of this Pokemon Mystery Dungeon comic for about 5 years now. I've improved a lot over the years so the pages start off pretty shakey art-wise, which is why I never got around to posting it anywhere. The longer I put it off, the worse the art got to my eyes, so I put it off more, and then smackjeeves died, and then deviantart followed suit etc...

But I've recently regained some of my motivation to post it, so here goes nothing! I'm gonna dump all 27 (!) of the prologue pages on y'all, then hopefully post a page of chapter 1 every day until we get to chapter 2, then I'll probably slow down to maybe twice a week hopefully? I've got a lot of buffer material (lol) so I'll see how things go.

And with that, hope you enjoy POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: ALLIANCE, the 195,474,995,683rd pmd comic
